When is scaffolding checked?

The main moment is the handover before it is put into use. After that it is checked periodically, and also after strong wind, heavy rain, a longer break in works and any interference with the structure.

Every check is worth documenting — including who carried it out and what the result was.

The most common findings

The repeats are: missing toe boards and mid-rails, incomplete platforms, removed ties, overloaded working levels and a missing or illegible information sign.

A separate group is changes made by crews during the works — a component taken off for a moment that never goes back.
