What should a product quality inspection cover?

A good checklist combines three layers: conformity with documentation, measurable characteristics (dimensions, parameters) and visual assessment. Each catches a different kind of defect.

It is worth separating critical characteristics from the rest. If everything is equally important, the inspection stretches and the most serious defects can slip through.

Sampling versus full inspection

With a stable process, sampling according to a set plan is usually enough. A full batch review makes sense after a tooling change, after a complaint or with a new product.

Either way, one thing matters: recording the result. Without it you cannot show the batch was checked or analyse the cause of a complaint.

A digital quality inspection card
